OSRAM Partners with Paradox Engineering to Promote Smart Lighting in Switzerland
OSRAM, a high-tech lighting manufacturer, and Paraox Engineering SA, a wireless sensor network technology company, have launched an intelligent lighting project in St. Gallen, northeastern Switzerland, and are expected to install LED lighting and remote control systems in the city.
Currently OSRAM has provided 60 SL20 LED lighting devices and took the lead in testing at Oberstrasse Street in St. Gallen. This LED lighting system, combined with Paradox Engineering wireless network, performs remote monitoring through the PE Smart Urban Network platform. As long as the St. Gallen government sends people to sit in the control room, it can adjust single or multiple LED street lights according to demand and keep track of the status of street lights.
In addition to the ability to adjust the street lights, this smart lighting system also installed optical sensors. According to the road traffic congestion, the street lights will automatically adjust the light and dark, which can reduce power waste at the time of traffic departure. Compared with traditional street lamps, this system can save 65% of power consumption.
Urs Etter, head of St Gallen's public lighting department, pointed out that street lights are the key to attracting people in the city and that the city of St. Gallen has invested in LED lighting for many years and hopes to further improve the city's sustainability through this system.
