GE Lighting Announces the Recall of 92,000 LED Tubes Due to Risk of Electric Shock

According to information released by the Consumer Product Safety Commission on its official website on the 6th, GE Lighting announced the recall of two LED lamps due to the risk of electric shock.

The recalled product is a cool-white general-purpose T8/T12 LED lamp, which specifically includes a set of 31243 LED lamps and 13T8U840 LED lamps. The number of recalls is 46,000, or 92,000 lamps. This type of lamp is mainly used in garages, basements, workshops, and utility rooms. The label next to the base of the lamp is printed with the GE logo and model information.

GE Lighting stated that during installation/disassembly, one end of the lamp may be energized, posing a risk of electric shock. Consumers should contact GE Lighting immediately to obtain instructions for the safe removal of LED lights and receive a $17 gift card refund. Consumers should ensure that the light switch is “off” before attempting to replace the LED light.

The recalled lamps were exclusively sold by Lowe's stores in the United States and its online store, Lowes.com, from November 2017 to April 2018 at a price of about $15.

At present, there have been no accidents or casualties.
