IP rating standard for lighting

- Sep 16, 2022-

IP stands for Ingress Protection. It refers to the protection ability of the lamp against dust and water. The IP level consists of two numbers.

I---The first digit indicates that the protection level of the lamp against the entry of dust and foreign objects ranges from 0 to 6,

P---The second number indicates the protection level of the lamp against water intrusion from 0-8

Dust class (I)

0---No protection No special protection for people or things in the outside world

1---Prevent the intrusion of solid objects larger than 50mm to prevent the human body (such as the palm) from accidentally touching the parts inside the lamp. Prevent foreign objects of larger size (diameter greater than 50mm) from invading.

2---Prevent the intrusion of solid objects larger than 12mm. Prevent people's fingers from touching the parts inside the lamp to prevent the intrusion of medium-sized (diameter larger than 12mm) foreign objects.

3---Prevent the intrusion of solid objects larger than 2.5mm Prevent the intrusion of tools, wires or similar details with a diameter or thickness larger than 2.5mm and small foreign objects to contact the parts inside the lamp.

4---Prevent the intrusion of solid objects greater than 1.0mm Prevent the intrusion of tools, wires or similar details with a diameter or thickness greater than 1.0mm and small foreign objects to contact the parts inside the lamp.

5---Dustproof completely prevents the intrusion of foreign objects. Although it cannot completely prevent dust from entering, the intruded dust will not affect the normal operation of the lamp.

6---Dustproof completely prevents foreign objects from entering, and can completely prevent dust from entering.

Waterproof class (P)

0---No protection No special protection

1---Prevent dripping water from invading and prevent vertical dripping water droplets

2---It can still prevent dripping water when it is tilted 15 degrees. When the electrical equipment is tilted 15 degrees, it can still prevent dripping water.

3---Prevent the intrusion of the sprayed water to prevent rainwater, or the water sprayed in the direction of the vertical angle of less than 50 degrees

4---Prevent the intrusion of splashing water Prevent the intrusion of splashing water from all directions

5---Prevent the intrusion of water from large waves to prevent the intrusion of water from large waves or water spray holes rapidly

6---to prevent the intrusion of large waves Light fixtures installed on the deck to prevent damage caused by the intrusion of large waves.

7---Prevent the intrusion of water when immersed in water: The lamp can be immersed in water for a certain period of time or the water pressure is below the set standard to ensure that it will not be damaged due to water ingress.

8---Prevent the effects of sinking
